History
The Festival of Appropriation was conceived
in the summer of 1999 as a six month long series. It began in July, ran
through December and officially concluded in January 2000, with a "Best
of" showcase. In its second year,the program was shortened to two
months; in the third year to one.
The Festival of Appropriation continues as a recurring exhibition
of both local and international artists who choose to create using items,
objects and images which they have appropriated, manipulated
and incorporated into their original works of collage, assemblage and
mixed media.
